Job Purpose The Western Cape Government is seeking to employ a qualified individual to investigate and follow-up debt relating to outstanding motor vehicle registration and licence fees and revenue protection matters. This position is stationed in Cape Town.
Minimum Requirements • B-Degree/National Diploma (as recognised by SAQA) with a minimum of 1 year relevant administration experience; or • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification), plus a minimum of 6 years’ relevant administration experience; • 3 years’ appropriate Road Traffic legislation experience; • A valid code B (08) driving licence and willingness to travel regulary away from the office.
Recommendation • Ability to interpret legislation; • Working knowledge of motor vehicle registration and licensing processes.
Key Performance Areas • Investigate the following: o Condition of motor vehicles in respect of applications for the deregistration of a motor vehicle; o Application for the special classification of motor vehicles in respect of the payment of licence fees; o Tare reduction of motor vehicles; o Application for registration as motor dealer and dealer stocking of motor vehicles. • Responsible for the collection of outstanding registration and licence fees; • Follow up and obtain financial statements from members of the public who apply for the write off of outstanding motor vehicle licence fees; • Liaise with various clients and stakeholders.
Competencies • Knowledge of the following: o National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (Act 93 of 1996) and the National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000; o National Traffic Information System (eNaTIS); • Advanced investigation skills; • Good written and verbal communication skills in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape; • Proven computer literacy in MS package; • Planning, organising and research skills.
Remuneration R 262 272 – R 308 943 per annum (Salary level 8)

Note on remuneration:
Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc.
MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed.
Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
