The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible to manage the
entire collections function (early & late stage outsourcing,
recoveries, payment management, debt review) and provide direction,
leadership and execute the organisation’s strategic and operational
objectives in order to maximise revenue, minimise organisational risk
and enhance organisational effectiveness.

Relevant qualification

Experience & Skills
Minimum of 7 years of experience in the collections and legal
recoveries environment is essential, preferably in the Consumer Retail
and/or Consumer Financial Services sector
Minimum of 3 years’ experience leading a team at senior management level
Collections strategy development and analytical experience will be an added advantage
Must have an excellent understanding of legislation governing the
credit and debt recovery industry, specifically the Debt Collectors Act
and the National Credit Act
Computer literacy (Internet and Email) and Microsoft Office: Excel/ Word / PowerPoint
Key Performance Areas
Operational management of the entire collections area including:
Internal collections, outsouce and legal recoveries (including debt
review) and further includes managing the billing and payment processes
Responsible to ensure the collections area is delivering according to the business plan and targets within budget
Ensure productivity is optimised through the effective management of the entire collections area
Ensure resources and structures supports longer term growth objectives
Maintain awareness of external influences such as relevant
legislation and manage accordingly to keep efficiencies and to meet
Assist in identifying, developing, evaluating, implementing and/or improving new procedures to improve efficiencies
Accurately balance risk and trends in driving innovation in the organization through effective testing and analysis
Keep informed regarding pending changes in the credit industry,
legislation, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact
of these changes on organizational processes
Ensure a comprehensive audit plan is in place and reviewed annually
