Key Requirements:


Appointment therefore requires a post graduate degree in Heritage Resources management with 5 years practical experience, 3 of which must be at a management level. It is preferred that the incumbent have a minimum of 3 years experience in the maritime and underwater discipline. In addition, preference will be given to individuals with experience in diving and related Marine legislation and regulations. The successful incumbent must be in possession of a valid code 8 driver’s license.

Key Responsibilities:

Identification, promotion and conservation of heritage resources in order to prevent destruction, alteration and loss of these resources; Developing systems, norms and standards for effective management and conservation of the national estate; Formulation, implementation and monitoring of policies; Evaluation and monitoring of the maritime and underwater cultural heritage resources; Encouraging and facilitating public participation in the Maritime and Underwater Cultural Heritage Resources Management; Administration of the office budget in terms of the PFMA and relevant schedules; Managing the performance of staff; Interaction with Provincial Heritage Resources Authorities; Assessment of all heritage aspects related to the maritime and underwater discipline.
