Eskom is a South African company that supplies electricity to the local market, it also exports electricity to other regions in Africa. We are talking about the biggest generator of electricity in the SADC region and one of the biggest companies to work for. The company runs over 29 functional power stations scattered around the country, including one nuclear power station in Koeberg, 4 hydroelectric power stations and 13 thermal power stations. The electricity giant has hundreds of vacancies in many departments. Some people think you can only get a job as an Engineer, Technician or Skilled Artisan at the company, sure there are many vacancies in the engineering field but there are also positions for administrative personnel, IT experts, secretaries, accountants, risk managers and so on.

Graduate Opportunities / Trainee Vacancies


So you just finished college but you don’t have experience? Eskom advertises a lot of graduate job vacancies each year. These vacancies are lumped with regular vacancies on the recruitment page >> Vacancies .By visiting this section on a regular basis, you will find a suitable trainee vacancy that meets your requirements.


The company has a popular sponsorship program that offers a study bursary to graduates in specific fields. If you are a student studying at a University or Technikon College in South Africa, you can apply for an Eskom Bursary to help you finance your education and get in-house experience with the company. The minimum requirements to apply for an Eskom Bursary are:


  • Be a South African citizen
  • Possess a Matric Certificate
  • Be accepted for Full Time Studies at an Accredited University or Technikon College in South Africa
  • Be ready for an interview
  • Undergo a Medical and Health Checkup


Minimum Matric Requirements:


  • University students are required to have at least a 5 or C grade in English, Physical Science and Maths.
  • Technikon students are required to have at least a 4 or D grade in English, Physical Science and Maths.
  • FET students are required to have at least a 3 or E grade in English, Physical Science and Maths.


Deadline: If you are applying for a Bursary, you should submit your application before 31 July for next year’s intake. Shortlisted applicants will receive a letter and telephone call before 15 August, asking them to attend an interview. Once the interview phase is finished, all applicants will get results before the end of the year. If you are successful, you will get detailed information regarding your bursary, as well as a contract form that should be signed and returned to Eskom offices.

Fill in the form, attach a copy of your South African ID, Matric Certificate (NSC), Exam Results from your University/Technikon and a confirmation letter from your University, Technikon College or FET that proves you are a full-time student at the institution.
