Function: Evaluate and manage trauma patients, Continous professional development, Teach and train undergraduate students, nursing staff and EMS students, Medico-legal & administrative duties.

Minimum Educational Requirements:
· Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
· Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner
Experience:
Grade 1
- No experience required after registering with HPCSA as Medical Practitioner (in respect of SA qualified employees)
- At least one year experience after registering with HPCSA as Medical Practitioner (in respect of foreign qualified employees)
Grade 2
- At least 5 years appropriate experience as Medical Practitioner after registering with HPCSA as Medical Practitioner (in respect of SA qualified employees)
- At least 6 years relevant experience after registering with recognize foreign Health Professional Council as Medical Practitioner Practitioner (in respect of foreign qualified employees)
Grade 3
- At least 10 years appropriate experience as Medical Practitioner after registering with HPCSA as Medical Practitioner (in respect of SA qualified employees)
- At least 11 years relevant experience after registering with recognize foreign Health Professional Council as Medical Practitioner Practitioner (in respect of foreign qualified employees)
Competences (Knowledge & Skills):
- Possession of the ATLS, ACLS, PALS certificates.
- Fluent in at least 2 of the 3 official languages spoken in the Western Cape.
- Independent and effective decision making
- Intention to pursue a career in Trauma or Surgery.
- Relevant experience in the management of Trauma patients.
- Trauma experience.
- Good communication skills
- Teaching and training of undergraduate students and staff involved in the Trauma Unit and maintain professional integrity at all times.
- Participation in after hour clinical work as per duty roster.
Annual Salary:
Grade 1 – 555,045 Rands per year (partly custom structured package)
Grade 2 – 634,641 Rands per year (partly custom structured package)
Grade 3 – 736,518 Rands per year (partly custom structured package)
